Back in 2009, Sciaky, a worldwide leader in additive manufacturing technology and electron beam welding solutions, launched its Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM) process to save manufacturers time and money on the production of large-scale, high-value metal parts and prototypes. Now, the subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries will unveil an extended lineup of EBAM 3D printing systems with new options for medium, large and extra-large part applications, making it the most widely scalable metal 3D printing solution on the market (in terms of work envelope) for parts ranging form 203 mm to 5.8 m (19 feet) in length, made of high value metals such as titanium, niobium, tantalum, tungsten, aluminium, stainless steel, Inconel and many more.

In addition to being the most widely scalable solution, Sciaky claims that EBAM is the fastest deposition process in the metal 3D printing market, with gross deposition rates ranging from 3.18 to 9.07 kg of metal per hour, cutting up to 80% of the time of traditional manufacturing methods. With their dual wirefeed option, users can combine two different metal alloys into a single melt pool to create ‘custom alloy’ parts or ingots. The mixture ratio of two materials can also be changed to create ‘graded’ parts or structures. Finally, users can alternate between different wire gauges, from thin wire to thick, for either finer or gross deposition features. “These unique benefits are exclusive to the EBAM dual wirefeed process and are not available with any other metal additive manufacturing process in the market,” said the company. Sciaky also says that their EBAM process can be used in any phase of the product life cycle, from rapid prototypes to repair and remanufacturing applications.

The new EBAM lineup and metal 3D printing capabalities will be highlighted at Euromold 2015, which takes place from September 22-25 in Dusseldort, Germany. “Sciaky is excited to exhibit at Euromold,” said Mike Riesen, general manager of Sciaky, Inc. “Our new Ebam systems and world-class AM services provide a wide variety of options for manufacturers around the world to save significant time and money on the production of metal parts and prototypes.”

Located in Chicago, Ill., Sciaky has been an industry leader in electron beam welding and additive manufacturing technology since its founding in 1939, and has predominantly led its services to high profile R&D projects involving the U.S. Air Force, Lockheed Martin, DARPA and Boeing.
