Prodways today announced a major partnership with the Chinese company Hunan Farsoon High-Tech and will rapidly develop a full range of plastic and metal 3D printers known as ‘Prodways powered by Farsoon.’
The world-class industrial 3D SLS printers will be based on Farsoon’s existing range of products, and will enable Prodways, a subsidiary of Groupe Gorgé, to compete with the existing market leaders, becoming the only non-American company to offer a range of technologies using plastic and metal powders, as well as liquid resins. ‘Prodways powered by Farsoon’ will be marketed worldwide in the coming months.
Created in 2009, Farsoon is the third-largest manufacturer of industrial 3D printing machines using SLS on plastics. This partnership brings together the combined expertise of Dr. Xu Xiao Shu, founder of Farsoon with over 20 years of experience in SLS printing, and Dr. André-Luc Allanic, co-founder of Prodways and inventor of the MOVINGLight Technology.
“Farsoon and Prodways share the same vision and the same values of innovation and a constant search for the best solutions for their industrial customers,” said Philippe Laude, Deputy Managing Director of Prodways Group. “Moreover, Dr. Xu and Dr. Allanic have already worked together at 3D Systems before founding their own companies and developing groundbreaking 3D printing solutions.”
A dedicated assembly line for the new line of 3D printers will be installed at Prodwasy’ Les Mureaux site. The strategic partnership will also benefit Farsoon by prodiving them global coverage through Prodways.
Prodways also announced today that it has taken a 45% stake (which may be increased in the future) in Texas-based Varia 3D, a 3D printing service provider specializing in SLS technology, and a commercial long-standing partner of Farsoon. Varia 3D will join Prodways growing Americas team and strengthen their footprint in the U.S.
These two announcements are major strategic moves for Prodways and confirm their objective of becoming the third-largest player in the world to offer an industrial multi-technological product range. By increasing their geographical presence and partnering with some of the SLS 3D printing industry’s best, they are certainly ensuring a strong future for their ever-growing company.
