Materialise has announced today the opening of a new 3D Printing Centre of Excellence in Malaysia. The facility aims to become a competence center for DLP 3D printing technologies, and it has the potential to 'enhance Malaysia’s role as a driver behind 3D Printing in Asia', states Materialise in a press release.

This initiative will see local research teams developing and preparing 3D printing applications for the market and become a knowledge center for Materialise's DLP technology. The teams will also investigate 3D printing anatomical models and other medical devices with DLP technology to further enhance the functionality of Materialise’s 3D printing software suites for the benefit of end-users working with DLP 3D printers. Many 3D printer OEMs will also play a role in the new Center of Excellence.

"We are delighted to open this competence center in Malaysia today," said Wim Michiels, General Manager of Materialise Malaysia. "It provides the missing link between our existing engineering and software development in Malaysia, and our actual knowledge of the 3D printing process. This will benefit our customers and partners enormously, as it brings us closer together –in knowledge, technology and even proximity. It will also benefit Malaysia, as it will build local knowledge and develop applications well suited for the region.”
