Chinese 3D printing company Shining 3D has just released version 2.5 of its EinScan Software for 3D scanners, including the EinScan Pro and EinScan Pro+.

Among the new features added in the software update are a new help mode for beginner users, new file formats, improved scanning tech, as well as live and multi-lingual customer support. Shining 3D says EinScan V2.5 is now available for download.

In recent years, Shining 3D has pushed China’s 3D scanning industry ahead with the release of a number of high-precision handheld 3D scanning products. Earlier this year, the company introduced its Einscan Pro+ handheld 3D scanner, which saw an increase in scanning speed and quality over its Einscan Pro predecessor.

Most recently, the company unveiled the AutoScan-DS-EX 3D scanner, which is geared towards the dental industry and which will reportedly be available as of September 1, 2017. Shining 3D also offers a number of 3D printing systems, including the EinScan S desktop 3D printer series.

Shining 3D says most of the updates to its EinScan software were the result of feedback it received through the EinScan Software beta tester program. To thank participants of the beta program, the company will be giving out 3D printed gifts, free product upgrades, and even a trip to the Shining 3D global partner summit (hosted in Hangzhou this year) to six lucky participants.

The Chinese 3D printing leader has listed a number of improvements that users will see while using EinScan software V2.5. For the EinScan Pro and EinScan Pro+ 3D scanners, users should benefit from a smoother scanning process, thanks to a “breakthrough” in an algorithm, as well as improved scanning quality while using the “handheld rapid scan” and “handheld HD scan” modes.

Updates that apply to all of its 3D scanning products include a quick and easy-to-use guide that enables users to be taken through the scanning process step-by-step, support for 3D manufacturing format (3MF) files, accessible customer support services in multiple languages (including English, simplified and traditional Chinese, Spanish, Turkish, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and French), and direct preview capability for ASC STL and OBJ cloud point files.

Other, more minor adjustments that were made in light of beta users comments include correcting meshing quality levels, decreasing memory consumption of the software, optimizing the zoom scale tool, and more.

In the future, the company says it will make more improvements, such as providing “the data list that allows users to edit and align individual scans,” the ability to use offline post processing, and the ability to switch between handheld scanning mode and fixed mode in a single scan.

Shining 3D’s new software can be downloaded by EinScan users for free via the company’s EinScan website.
