Video game developer Blizzard Entertainment has been awarded a Guinness World Record for the largest video game diorama ever produced. The massive diorama spans 1,300 square feet and includes over 10,000 miniature 3D printed characters.

The diorama itself was inspired by Blizzard’s famous World of Warcraft game, which has grown into something of a phenomenon in recent years. With humble beginnings as a real-time strategy game, Warcraft is now a video game franchise consisting of multiple extension packs and was even adapted for the silver screen last year.

Blizzard recently announced its newest expansion pack, Battle for Azeroth, at its BlizzCon 2017 event, saying that the new game would be released in 2018. To get Warcraft fans even more excited for the upcoming launch, the company put together the expansive diorama.

BlizzCon attendees were doubtlessly exhilarated about getting to see over 1,300 square feet of Warcraft terrain, which depicted the setup for the Battle for Lordaeron. Players were even given the opportunity to find their own characters amongst the hordes of 3D printed figurines. Yep, that’s right, each of the over 10,000 characters that was 3D printed corresponded to an actual BlizzCon participant’s avatar.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the large-scale diorama—which is really immaculately put together—has broken at least one world record and Guiness World Record reps were on hand to present the plaque for “largest video game diorama ever.”

The video game developer issued the following statement about the impressive project: “To celebrate our incredible community, we randomly selected over 10,000 BlizzCon attendees’ World of Warcraft characters to bring to life in a 1,300 square foot diorama. Each 3D printed figure is unique, representing the armor set, race, and class of an actual in-game character.”

A BlizzCon attendee commented on the amazing Warcraft diorama, saying: “I thought it was amazing, it’s just so awesome to go to ‘con’ and find your character in its exact spot.” Another said: “The time it must have taken alone to 3D print [the characters] just blows my mind.”

We have no doubt that the gigantic 3D printed model will get Warcraft players excited for the soon to be released Battle for Azeroth, but if that wasn’t enough, Blizzard has also released a cinematic trailer for the new expansion pack which, well, looks pretty epic. (You can see the video below.)

If you didn’t make it to BlizzCon 2017, you can always get into the spirit by 3D printing a World of Warcraft character or prop, such as this 3D printed Frostmourne Sword.
