Attendees of Samsung’s forthcoming Unpacked 2018 launch event will get a chance to see the Samsung Galaxy S9 via a special augmented reality presentation. The new smartphone will be available in a new lilac color.
A slew of recent leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S9 mean that anxious Android users already know a great deal about the Korean company’s forthcoming smartphone, with info such as technical specs, colors, and even a tentative release date now in the public domain.
On February 25, Samsung will hold its Unpacked 2018 event, unveiling a number of new products for 2018, including the Galaxy S9.
The futuristic smartphone promises a next-generation camera with ultra-wide aperture, making mobile photography a more feasible option for low-light images and artistic shots with a shallow depth of field. It will also offer a 3D emoji speaker and stereo speakers. Like Apple’s Animoji on the iPhone X, this 3D emoji feature tracks and mimics the facial expressions of the user.
Clues extracted from deep within Samsung’s own Unpacked 2018 app now suggest that Samsung will present the Galaxy S9 in augmented reality, allowing attendees of Unpacked to see the mobile in 3D, from all angles.
Functions within the app suggests that attendees will be able to tap their phone against their event badge to open the AR tool, previewing the phone in its various color options.
The 2018 Mobile World Congress, a huge smartphone event in Barcelona, will commence a day after Samsung’s Unpacked event.
