Bossard Group, a Swiss fastener technology and logistics company, has signed partnership agreements with three 3D printing companies including metal AM specialist TRUMPF, German RepRap, and stereolithography company Henkel. Through the partnerships, Bossard Group says it will supply industrial 3D printing equipment and additive manufacturing materials and provide consultancy for the design of 3D printable complex parts.

Through its new partnerships, Bossard says it will develop a new range of additive manufacturing technologies. Working with TRUMPF, German RepRap, and Henkel, the company will offer three 3D printing systems based on each of the companies’ specialties: laser-based metal AM, FDM, and SLA.

Bossard’s three additive manufacturing systems will reportedly be destined for the professional market and will have applications in product development, prototyping, model and mold making, architecture, and more.

TRUMPF, a German machining tools company, has become known in the AM industry for its laser metal fusion and laser metal deposition technologies. German RepRap, for its part, is a specialist in fused filament fabrication 3D printers and will cooperate with Bossard in the development of professional FDM printers. Finally, Henkel will partner with Bossard to share its DLP 3D printing technology.

“Bossard views 3D printing as forward-looking technology that will transform some areas of industrial manufacturing,” said the company in a press release. “Its involvement relies on partnerships with three manufacturers of premium industrial 3D printers and related technical support services.

“[Bossard] will contribute its technical expertise, experience in solving industrial manufacturing problems, and an established sales network. Consulting services will extend to the design of prototypes and complex customized components, with its application engineering and prototyping resources acting as a centre of competence.”

This week, Bossard and its subsidiary KVT-Fastening will be demonstrating three types of 3D printing technologies at the Additive Manufacturing Expo in Lucerne, Switzerland.
