In just under a month, all major industrial 3D printing manufacturers, suppliers, and partners will come together in Frankfurt, Germany for the annual Formnext expo. There, 3D printing enthusiasts can expect to see a number of exciting new products and innovations, some of which we are already getting wind of. For instance, German laser manufacturer Trumpf has announced that it will be expanding its metal 3D printing product portfolio with a new 3D printer, which it unveil at Formnext 2016.

The new 3D printer, called the Truprint 3000, is reportedly equipped with a 500 watt laser (a 300W upgrade over company’s previous TruPrint 1000 3D printer), and will boast an impressive build volume of 400mm in height by 300mm in diameter. In short, Trumpf’s newest additive manufacturing machine will be bigger and better than the German manufacturer’s previous metal 3D printing systems.

The new 3D printer will expand Trumpf’s Laser Metal Fusion (LMF) technology, and is expected to have applications in a wide range of sectors, including the automotive and aerospace industries, as well as the dental and medical industries, to name but a few.

Peter Leibinger, Chairman of Trumpf Laser und Systemtechnik GmbH, said of the new 3D printer: “With the TruPrint 3000, we are focusing on the industrialization of additive manufacturing by means of a complete process chain and considering not only the manufacturing technology itself, but also the upstream and downstream operations.” According to Trumpf, the new Truprint 3000 is well equipped for series production thanks to its reproducible powder and high print quality.

At last year’s Formnext expo, Trumpf was present with its other 3D printer models: the TruPrint 1000, the TruLaser Cell 7040, and TruLaser Cell 3000 LMD. We can expect to see much more of the German 3D printer manufacturer at this year’s Formnext, which runs from November 14th to 18th.
