Desktop 3D printer manufacturer German RepRap showcased its new, larger format 3D printer X1000 developed specially for its commercial customers at Euromold last week.

This printer boasts a printing volume of 1000 x 800 x 600 mm. The technology is based on fused filament fabrication (FFF) which is ideal for producing prototypes, fully functional models as well as prints for molding.

This first product of their new professional series is based on the knowledge gained from users of German RepRap's X400 3D printer, who wanted to print larger objects or a number of smaller ones in parallel. The X400 has a print capacity of 400 x 400 x 350 mm.

"Our goal is to offer a complete range of products for commercial customers," explains Florian Bautz, managing director of German RepRap. Having said that, the new printer is not an enlarged X400, it has been developed from the ground up.

The new 3D printer X1000 for professional users features multi-extruder-technology, intelligent filament management, printing control via webcam, and an intuitive user interface. It comes also with contact free switch, integrated clean-up function for extruder nozzle, and special ventilation for high-quality prints. With a layer height of 0.5 mm even large models can be printed very quickly in draft mode.

Specs:

  • Build volume: 1000 x 800 x 600 mm
  • Standard nozzle diameter: 0.8 mm
  • Layer thickness: 0.5 mm
  • Resolution X/Y: 0.02 mm
  • Supported filament: PLA
  • Extruder: DD3 Extruder
  • Weight approx.. 400 kg
  • Printer size: 1350 x 1700 x 1300 mm

The large format X1000 3D printer is priced at €28,000 and scheduled to ship in early 2015.

German RepRap is known for its personal printers based on the FFF process. With the new professional series the company proves its competence as a supplier of industrial-strength 3D printers for the professional market.
