ModiBot Mo is a figure-based build system that you can customize through more than 450 different interlocking parts. ModiBot's different connectors and numerous extensions are all 3D printed and available through Shapeways. In an effort to scale up its operation the company has now taken ModiBot Mo to Kickstarter.
"What you've got is an inspiring tool set that encourages people to create their own fun, hyper-personalized characters and playthings." writes designer Wayne Losey and Tucker Johnson, founders of Modibot. "The ModiBot play experience is at its best when you have a big batch of parts laying on the table to choose from and try".
Using a 'linear' connection method you can mix all interchangeable parts and personalize for any opportunity or occasion. More than 450 different parts can now be purchased and printed on-demand on Shapeways. "Our goal is to publish an additional 400 new parts by the end of the year." writes the two creators on Kickstarter.

ModiBot's Kickstarter has raised $7,369, more than half of its $12,000 goal, still 2 weeks to go before the campaign ends. 3D printing makes the design and development of ModiBot Mo fairly cheap. You can order the 3D models and printing the toys yourself, or simply support the project on Kickstarter. Fans can get a basic ModiBot figure kit for $15, more pieces and accessories can be orders through further backing levels. The earliest delivery time is around October 2013.
