In less than a week, the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2014) will invade the Las Vegas Convention Center, with 3,200 exhibitors, more than 150,000 attendees from more than 150 countries.

From driverless cars, wearable tech, sensor technologies and 3D printing to Ultra HD TV, health technologies and beyond, the 2014 International CES is the place to see inspiring innovations across the consumer technology ecosystem.

This year 3D printing gets its own exhibit area - the 3D printing tech zone plus a 'Don't Believe the Hype? - 3D Printing Uncovered' conference track that will run at CES 2014. This new TechZone will showcase the latest in 3D printing making it more accessible for today's consumers. This designated area sold out and expanded three times to meet exhibitor demand.

1. Don't Believe the Hype? - 3D Printing Uncovered - Wednesday, Jan. 8

3D Systems CEO Avi Reichental and well known industry commentator Todd Grimm will be taking to the stage on January 8 to communicate their enthusiasm for this disruptive technology, separating hard facts from media hype. Paul Brody, VP & Global Industry Leader, Electronics, IBM will be talking about how 3D Printing competes with traditional manufacturing tools in the "The Super Users: How the Experts Play" session.

How are consumers accessing 3D printing? Clement Moreau, CEO, Sculpteo and Conor MacCormack, Co-founder & CEO, Mcor Technologies will explore the business models than enable consumer to access both in the home and from the home.

I think it's ironic that 3D systems is talking on "don't believe the hype" They are now sitting on 30 years of exclusive IP and they didn't manage to get the consumer market penetration makerbot managed in 6 (counting since the Darwin release)

Look at the variety of printers with the diversity of end products. And to think, this is only the very top of the iceberg. They can make the future wonderful or desistor depending on how they are used.
