Dutch 3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker recently announced their move into the US by setting up an assembly and service hub with fbcr8. Today Ultimaker released another upgrade for their Ultimaker Original.
Ultimaker has announced a Heated Bed upgrade kit for the Ultimaker Original during the 5th Annual Maker Faire in New York. With a heated bed, there will be no warping on your prints, which means flat and glossy bottom surfaces. It also allows printing with a larger variety of materials like PLA, PLA-based materials, XT, ABS and Nylon.
The Heated Bed upgrade kit will be available for €245 and will contain a new Z-stage, a heated bed, a glass plate, power supply and an additional electronics board to connect it all together.
Ultimaker's CEO Siert Wijnia said: "When we first started with the Ultimaker Original, we never imagined Ultimaker becoming this big. Together with our community we have been able to grow, and we owe it to ourselves and them to keep supporting them. These upgrades allow even our first users to evolve with us and keep their Ultimaker up to date.''
With the heated bed upgrade, Ultimaker decided to release the Ultimaker Original+. The Ultimaker Original+ meets CE standards, has new electronics for reliable temperature control, a heated bed and an additional fan shroud for safety. The Ultimaker Original+ costs €1195.
To celebrate this launch, Ultimaker bundled Doodle3D with the Ultimaker Original and Ultimaker Original+ for free until October 26, 2014. And to top it off, the UltiController (€80 value) has been added to both Ultimaker Original and Ultimaker Original+ for free.
The Heated Bed upgrade kit can be purchased for €245, or along with Doodle3D for only €295 during the launch period from September 20, 2014 until October 26, 2014.
The Heated Bed upgrade kit will start shipping from October 1, Ultimaker Original+ will start shipping from October 15.
Ultimaker announced today that it will also release an upgrade for the Ultimaker 2, being Dual Extrusion in Q1 2015.
