San Diego-based packing and shipping retailer the UPS Store with 4,300 stores nationwide launched in end of July this year an in-store 3D printing service in six shops across the USA. UPS selected Stratasys to provide 3D printers to The UPS Store as part of this test program that will make it the first national retailer in the U.S to offer 3D printing service.

"Start-ups, entrepreneurs and small-business owners may not have the capital to purchase a 3D printer on their own, but they may have a need to show prototypes to their current and potential customers," said Michelle Van Slyke, vice president of marketing and small-business solutions at The UPS Store. "By offering 3D printing capabilities in-center, we're able to help further our small business customers' opportunities for success."

While the program is aimed at small businesses, it is open to anyone interested in trying out on-site 3D printing services. Following the launch of the test, retail customers will be able to bring a Computer Aided Design (CAD) file to participating UPS Store locations and have their 3D design printed on-site.

The UPS Store is installing Stratasys uPrint SE Plus 3D Printers in six test locations, beginning in San Diego. But how exactly can 3D printing help out a small business? Fox Business reporter visited the UPS Store in New York and spoke with UPS small business technology leader Daniel Remba, who showed him how it works.

$50 for the logo, not bad. I'd be curious how their pricing structure works.
