3D printing is a star at 2014 CES. As 3-D Systems' Avi Reichental said, "3-D printing is an overnight success 30 years in the making." Five years ago, MakerBot was the only 3-D printing company at CES. This year, 3D printing has its own tech zone. There are 28 3D printing exhibitors at the show, up from just eight in 2013.

XYZ Printing Da Vinci 3D Printers at CES 2014
Taiwanese company XYZprinting, which plans to start selling its Da Vinci 3D printer later this year for $499 introduces the main features of the printer in the video below.

will.i.am
will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame has joined up with 3D printing company 3D Systems as Chief Creative Officer. Beyond claiming that 3D Systems is the "best 3D printing company" out there, will.i.am spoke about the intellectual property of the industry in comparison to his own world of music and film - specifically saying they want to avoid mistakes that have been made.
3D-Printed Musical Instruments at CES
3D Systems booth highlights a four-piece band with each of the instruments – keyboard, bass, guitar and drums – being made primarily out of 3D-printed parts. The musicians all said the instruments played very easily, though obviously the non-solid drum shells caused more of the tone to come from the head than anywhere else.

3D Systems video says "sub $100" systems, not $1000 per actual video content. Was there a CES show special? Or was this more misinformation...

I know it is irrelevant and I really like this kind of stuff AND I am normally a happy go lucky type of person but that fat, bald guy looking into the camera in the first video seems inappropriate, unproffessional, slightly creepy, and something more a 9 year-old would do.
