While it might be far away from the reach of us desktop 3D printing hobbyists, much is happening in the world of industrial 3D printing too. Ambitious Israeli 3D printing technology experts Nano Dimension have just announced a brand new line of materials for their inkjet deposition 3D printers called AgCite. Not only exceptionally reliable during 3D printing, this silver nanoparticle ink is perfect for printing functional electronic devices and more. This interesting innovation coincides with a big step for Nano Dimension’s brand, as they have also applied for a listing on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
For those of you who’ve never heard of Nano Dimension, this Israeli company was founded back in 2012 by four seasoned entrepreneurs and technology experts, Sharon Fima, Amit Dror, Simon Fried and Dagi Ben-Noon. The company specialized in the development of high end 3D printing electronics, including a fascinating PCB inkjet 3D printer and a wide range of nanotechnology-based inks for 3D printing. The company operates two labs, one for the development and production of silver nanoparticle inks, and the other for dielectric nano-inks. They are also working on more materials for the company’s upcoming DragonFly 2020 PCB 3D printer.

The AgCite inks is just the latest of their innovations, and a very interesting one. Among its characteristics, this family of inks sinters at low temperatures and is compatible with a wide range of substrate surfaces. Nano Dimension is also able to customize the inks for specific printing applications, and can for instance enhance adhesion, flexibility or hardness. This and its conductive nature makes the AgCite inks suitable for a very wide range of 3D printed electronics and similar applications. Think circuits, sensors, solar cells and much more.
As Simon Fried, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, explained, these digital inkjet 3D printing options provide the best possible electrical properties. ‘Our AgCite silver inks have achieved performance levels suited to the most challenging electrical environments, and electronics companies can now seriously evaluate the benefits of digital printing, whatever their application, in the defense, aerospace, automotive, telecom, medical, industrial and consumer electronics industries,’ he says.
The AgCite inks are developed through a patented and environmentally responsible synthesis process, licensed through inks pioneer Shlomo Magdassi and theYissum Research Development Company, the technology transfer arm of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Starting out with a silver precursor material, the method enables to control of the size, shape and distribution of the nanoparticles throughout the ink, which can be customized to suit the customer’s need.
The unveiling of this interesting material coincides with the announcement that Nano Dimension has filed a registration statement with the the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for listing on the American Depositary Shares on the NASDAQ stock exchange. The Form 20-F does not allow public fundraising in the US, though there it is currently not known if the application will be approved.
The company is, however, already present on the OTCQX® Best Market with the symbol "NNDMY”, but acceptance to the NASDAQ will greatly increase the exposure of the company in the US. ‘Trading on NASDAQ will be a major milestone for the Company. It can significantly increase the exposure of the Company in the U.S., both to investors and to strategic partners. We continue to make rapid progress in R&D, testing, cooperation agreements and the sale readiness of the 3D printer and the Company's unique inks,’ Nano Dimension’s CEO Amit Dror said.
