Marubeni Information Systems Co Ltd (MSYS) has launched 3D printing service on Nov 25, 2011, according to news from Techon Japan.

MSYS has the expereience of providing manufacturing solutions, which include 3D printers, digitizers, and CAM for machine-based design and manufacturing systems. It provides also digital and electronic design and development software.

MSYS expects this "MSYS On-demand Production Service" by using 3D printers will be a step to produce customized products for industries who have demand on small quantities and forming dies for resin, tools and service parts, etc. The 3D printing service will reduce the time and cost for prototypes.

For the 3D printing service, MSYS will use Stratasys Inc's printer, which discharges acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), etc from its movable nozzle while melting it with heat and accumulates it. It is possible to select from nine kinds of materials including (1) polycarbonate (PC), (2) polyphenylsulfone, which has excellent heat and chemical resistances and (3) polyetherimide, a fire-resistant (UL 94 V-0) material that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved for use as a material for aircraft parts, in addition to ABS resin.
