May.6, 2013

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, COLLECT, the leading international art fair for contemporary objects, will return to the Saatchi Gallery in London and showcase exceptional work from the world's finest galleries.

Thirty two galleries and eleven Project Space artists will come together from 10 – 13 May 2013. It was inevitable that 3D printing would make an appearance at this year's COLLECT. Artist Daniel Widrig will brings his crazy 3D printed work to the show. Before he founded his own studio in 2009 Widrig worked several years for Zaha Hadid Architects as a trained architect. Facinated by digital design and fabrication, Widrig started to add cutting edge approach to his design of furniture, jewelry, sculpture and architecture. In 2011 he worked with the fashion designer Iris Van Herpen to create an extraordinary series of 3D printed dresses which was named one of the 50 Best Inventions of 2011 by TIME Magazine.

Below are some of Widrig's great 3D-printed designs. And if you are interested in visiting COLLECT this weekend, you can get your tickets here.

Put this 3D printer capability into the hands of a video game designer and not a 'Le Designeur' and we will finally see some real damn cool 3D printed clothes!
