BCN3D, a Barcelona-based desktop 3D printing OEM, announced today that it has raised $3 million through seed funding.

The round, which came from Accurafy4, JME VC, and Victoria, turns BCN3D into one of the top 10 desktop 3D printing manufacturers in Europe in terms of funding. The investment will enable the company to ramp-up production and further the development of its Independent Dual Extruder (IDEX) 3D printing technology.
Led by CEO Xavier Martínez Faneca, BCN3D provides 3D printers used for prototyping, functional validation and manufacturing tooling, jigs, and fixtures. The company introduced the Sigma R19 and Sigmax R19 platforms in September 2018, and recently achieved the 5,000 3D printers sold milestone through a network of 60 active distribution partners operating worldwide. Clients include BMW, Samsung, Louis Vuitton, Nissan, NASA, HTC or ALBA Synchrotron.
After its incubation period, BCN3D has also announced it has officially spun out of the CIM-UPC Center, an Additive Manufacturing center from the South of Europe which is part of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC).

“With this funding, we will be able to ramp-up our production to meet the market demand and cut down the long delivery periods we have experienced in the past due to production limitations,” commented Faneca.
“We have high expectations on the company’s commercial growth and their ability to create market dominance through new technology development,” said Francois Minec, lead investor at Accurafy4. “At Accurafy4 we are now delighted to join the company and we will make our best efforts to maximise BCN3D’s global impact and develop strategic partnerships.”

We are very proud of this new step for BCN3D and we will support their growth from the university.”
