The ExtrusionBot, developed by Chandler, Arizona based Mark Dill, is claimed to be the world's fastest home built automatic filament extruder.
A filament extruder converts inexpensive ABS or PLA pellets into a spool of filament to be used in 3D printers. The ExtrusionBot is unlike any other extruder available on the market - instead of taking 24 hours extruding a spool of plastic, the ExtrusionBot can do it in about 1 hour. According to Dill, his extruder can make ABS and PLA at up to 4ft / min (1.22m / min).
The ExtrusionBot comes with 1.75 and 3 mm nozzles that can be easily swapped. You are not limited with ExtrusionBot on the type of filament you make - ABS, PLA and more are being tested.
The ExtrusionBot has also a small footprint, only 7in x 10in (177 x 254mm), can be put on desk right beside your 3D printer.
The ExtrusionBot has built in spooling. Loading and unloading a spool is easy.
The ExtrusionBot is launched on Kickstarter in order to raise funds to purchase all the parts in bulk. And it has surpassed its Kickstarter goal of $10,000 in just few days.
You can buy it fully assembled for $625, including lbs. of PLA or ABS pellets, or in kit form and have fun putting it together, for just $365.

I am interested in buying this machine but there are two things i want to know 1.how many kg of plastic pellets are required to make 1 spool of filament. 2.if this machine works for 20hours a day how many spools can it make.
