Innofil3D, a Netherlands-based 3D printing filament company owned by BASF, has partnered with Beijing Tiertime, a Chinese FDM 3D printer manufacturer. Beijing Tiertime will distribute Innofil3D’s filaments in China and the U.S., and the two companies will develop new materials.

Since its acquisition by chemicals company BASF, Dutch 3D printing filament specialist Innofil3D has had a busy time, collaborating with numerous other companies to expand its 3D printing material business. Its latest deal is a partnership with Chinese FDM 3D printer manufacturer Beijing Tiertime, which will take Innofil3D further across the globe.

The deal consists of two parts. Firstly, Beijing Tiertime—a manufacturing and prototyping solutions provider with a global distribution network serving over 50 countries—will now distribute Innofil3D’s 3D printing filaments in China and the United States, taking Innofil3D materials like ABS Fusion+ to new customers.

The second part of the deal will involve the two additive manufacturing companies working together to develop engineering materials for industrial applications using FDM 3D printing.

“With the introduction of our ‘UP’ series for FFF printing in 2010, we contributed to the rise of desktop 3D printers in the consumer and education sectors,” commented Andrew Qin, Sales Director at Beijing Tiertime. “Now we recognize that desktop FFF 3D printers are being used for industrial use, due to lower investment costs.

“By working closely with a strong partner like BASF, we can bring their well-developed Innofil3D materials to the Chinese market, enabling us to respond quickly to an increased demand for premium materials from the professional and industrial sectors.”

Innofil3D, established in 2014 as a spin-off of Applied Polymer Innovations, focuses on FDM 3D printing engineering materials, and the company thinks the new deal will help it sell its filaments to new markets.

“Beijing Tiertime offers significant advantages for Innofil3D in China,” said Jeroen Wiggers, Managing Director of Innofil3D. They have demonstrated their capabilities in manufacturing reliable 3D printing machines with a strong market penetration.

“We believe this strong partnership will enable end-customers to capitalize on the full benefits of FFF printing in China and the United States.”

Beijing Tiertime is responsible for the UP range of desktop 3D printers, which includes the UP BOX+ and UP Mini 2.
