Another open source 3D printer is now on Kickstarter: the RoBo 3D Printer developed by Coby Kabili, Mike Pilkington and Braydon Moreno from San Diego, CA has a cute Robot looking. It features a large print area 10 x 12 x 9 inch / 254 x 305 x 229 mm and claimed to be an easy-to-use and easy-to-assemble 3D printer.

Features:

  • 5 Nema 17 motors
  • Sanguinololu 1.3a electronics with Marlin firmware
  • Hot End with a 0.4 mm nozzle diameter
  • 100 Micron (.1mm) layer height
  • 30 amp power supply
  • 22 Printed pieces in all
  • Y-platform is expandable

A RoBo 3D printer kit is priced at $475, including all the parts you need for building the machine. For $520 you can get a fully assembled and calibrated RoBo 3D printer, you can simply plug in and start printing. Check them out on Kickstarter.

Can anyone give me info on this ROBO 3D printer? Will this print with nylon? What percentage of parts can be replicated by printing them?
