Italy-based Boris Landoni and his team started builidng their version of Mendel with three goals: ease of installation, Prusa Mendel comparable performance, compatibility with RepRap electronics, firmware and software.

Pursuing these goals led to the birth of 3D printer 3Drag. It is made of aluminum profiles and each part is designed to be light and strong for the suppression of vibrations and unwanted resonance.

The 3Drag printer is compact and has a low center of gravity, aligned with the two belts. The printer uses the X / Y for printing plane and Z for the cart. This configuration allows to simplify the extrusion system which no longer have to move on a horizontal axis. It is simply fixed to the structure that moves along the Z axis.

Features:

Hot extrusion with nozzle of 0.5 mm, NTC 100K and steppers

Movement: 3 NEMA 17 stepper motors on the X / Y (printing plate) and Z (arm extruder)

Controller: Sanguinololu 1.3a or compatible

Power supply: 12V 3A max

FTDI USB 2.0 to Serial, Arduino compatible

Build envelope: 20 x 20 x 20 cm

Medium size printing plate: 21.5 x 21.5 cm

Typical printing speed 120 mm / sec

Resolution: - X and Y: 0.015 mm; - Z: 0.781 microns

Dimensions: 60 x 43 x 59 cm

Weight: 8.7 kg, including power supply

The 3Drag printer is priced at €720 ($938 / £613).

Hello, I will shortly be commencing my third book and I want to feature your product in it. This will also include web links, which may also (very likely) appear on the books web page on sites such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc. This would give you a huge boost in public presence and it should hopefully give you a much needed 'helping hand,' given that this is a relatively new concept and yet this Market is gaining popularity without saturating very quickly. This in my opinion means establishing yourself as a market leader now will be easier and cheaper than in the future. What I am offering is a long-term publicity campaign... well let's face it a. if it's in a book it must be a sound product and b. people are actually writing about this one here - I'm having that!" The new book will be about "How to Build a 737 cockpit" where I will be writing about the 3D Printer extensively, detailing how to make buttons, throttles, gauges, levers, yokes etc. Would you like to exclusively feature in my next book? I have contacted only you so far as I have established that we should both benefit equally. I hope this is something you are interested in and I look forward to hearing from you. To your continued success, John Baxter
