RapidPro, the annual event for the total Additive Manufacturing, Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Tooling chain, takes place on 25 and 26 January 2012 in Veldhoven, The Netherlands. The trade fair and conference covers additive manufacturing (3D printing), rapid prototyping, rapid tooling, vacuum forming techniques, casting, measuring, scanning and digitizing but also raw materials and surface treatments.

This year there is a separate section of RapidPro: "RapidPro at home" focusing on the possibilities for 3D printing at home. Els van de Ven, Manager Trade Fairs and Conventions in the organization Mikrocentrum, expects 2000 visitors to the RapidPro 2012, which will be roughly doubled of event in 2011. Over 50 exhibitors will be presented at the event, including Ultimaking, FOC, i-Materialise, Fablab, Peggy Bannenberg; and several international speakers will give a complete overview of the entire field including the latest trends and developments at an extensive reading program.

The subjects and international speakers include:

  • The revolution in DIY 3D printers: faster and cheaper to make, faster and more accurately to print, more different materials - Frits Hoff, FabLab Zuid-Limburg

  • How 3D printing will change consumer perception of products - Ilko Bosman, Freedom Of Creation BV

  • Materialising Your Creativity - Martijn Joris, i.materialise

  • The democratization of manufacturing technology - Erik de Bruijn, Ultimaking Ltd / Ultimaker

  • 3D printers in architecture education - Dr. ir. M. C. Stellingwerff, Delft University of Technology

Besides 3D printing RapidPro shows also all other forms of rapid prototyping and various products and technologies that support it. It offers visitors the opportunity to choose from several alternatives and to see and compare the pros and cons of all the technologies.

RapidPro 2012 takes place on 25 and 26 January in Koningshof in Veldhoven. Both the exhibition and the conference are free of charge. You can subscribe to it via the website RapidPro 2012.
