Skriware, a 3D printer manufacturer based in Poland and Sweden, has introduced its latest product: the Skriware 2 3D printer. The machine, which is currently available for pre-order for the reduced price of $1,599, was unveiled yesterday at the Gitex Technology Week 2017 in Dubai.
Skriware first came onto the scene in 2015 with a successful Kickstarter campaign for its eponymous 3D printer and the Skrimarket, an online 3D printing marketplace for users to browse 3D models.
The original Skriware 3D printer was built to offer users an accessible desktop 3D printer—both in terms of cost and user-friendliness. At $999, the desktop 3D printer is now not even close to the cheapest FDM printer on the market, but its sleek structure and user interface are still a draw.
Now, with the release of Skriware 2, the Polish-Swedish startup says it has upped its 3D printer game. Most notably, the new plug-and-play 3D printer boasts a larger build volume (210 x 260 x 210 mm) than its predecessor, as well as a second extruder which enables dual-extrusion (and thus, dual-color) printing.
Other improvements to the 3D printer include a full-color 7” touch screen which allows users to easily connect to their online 3D libraries and print directly from them. According to Skriware, the 3D printer is also capable of preparing 3D models (even robotic designs, apparently) for printing directly through this interface, eliminating the need for any additional software or devices.
“Skriware 2 makes [the] 3D printing process easier and more intuitive than ever, giving our customers [a] revolutionary user experience,” commented Karol Górnowicz, CEO of Skriware. “It is a new member of [the] Skriware ecosystem which allows users to freely cross the boundaries of their imagination and, among others, create customized 3D printed robots, learn programming, and discover the art of design.”
In terms of materials, the FDM 3D printer can accommodate a range of 1.75 mm filaments, including PLA, ABS, PVA, PET, PET, FLEX, NYLON, HIPS, and more. As mentioned, the printer does feature a second extruder, making it possible to 3D print in different colors as well as with soluble support materials.
Skriware’s new 3D printer was presented for the first time on October 9 in Dubai at the Gitex Technology Week event. Interested customers can now pre-order the desktop 3D printer for $1,599. The Skriware 2 3D printer will reportedly retail for $1,800 when it is officially released in November 2017.

Are you missing a zero in the layer height spec perhaps...?
