The 3Doodler raised $2.3 million on Kickstarter earlier this year. The $75 3D printing pen brings the freedom of 3D creativity to the masses by allowing anyone to simple hold the pen and build 3D objects they could imagine. The success of 3Doodler attracts quite a few followers in the market with their own versions of 3D printing pen.

The SwissPen announced the availability of their 3D printing pen this week. Using the same material as 3D printers (ABS or PLA), the swissPen draws by extruding pre-heated plastic and can be used to draw in the air or on surfaces.

The SwissPen looks and functions a lot like the 3Doodler. It doesn't require any software or computer and it can be used in many different ways, from flat shapes to 3D objects, or to make patterns on a piece of paper which can be then fitted together.

Designed and made in Switzerland, the swissPen retails for CHF102.60 including tax (CHF95 ex. tax), which is US$111 / EUR83, plus international shipping. You can choose between ABS or PLA plastic when ordering. It comes with universal power supply 110-240V + 220 strands of plastic (length 25 cm each, 20 strands of each color, 11 colors : white, orange, black, yellow, purple, green, sky blue, red, blue, pink, glow in the dark) and it will begin shipping in October 2013.

Its competitor, the 3Doodler will be $99 when it is available on the market. The estimated delivery time of 3Doodler is around February 2014, but the original Kickstarter backers could get their units in September, said 3Doodler.

This site does not sell products of any type. It's a internet based scam to take people's money.

Remarkably, six months after Mr Monnin claimed to have sent my swisspen, and after dozens of evasive and fraudulent messages from him; dozens of promises for a refund that was never made -- damned if it didn't actually arrive! Guess what: it sucks. Total POS compared to 3Doodler. Anyone else interested in pooling up for a swiss lawyer? See my blogspot http://airsmokeandmirrors.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

The same happened to me. I ordered the pen in oktober 2013 and i never received it. in the beginning they company answered my emails: "it will soon be delivered", "we already sent the pen", then "we will refund the money",.. since 3 month there are no answers to my emails. NO PEN, NO MONEY BACK :-((

I just spoke with J. Monnin, the man who owns the Swiss Pen company. He didn't know I was calling, but that's what happens when you use your real phone number to register your websites with and the same email format for all of them. If you would like to reach him to speak with him about your refund, try "+41.216538310". I literally just spoke with him and then came here to post this, so it should still work. He gave me the run around, offered me a refund (which I already received by posting mean things to PayPal's facebook page) and telling methat he was behind on orders and had tried to fill larger ones first. He was difficult to understand because he was speaking quietly and has a fairly thick accent, but there ya go! Good luck!

Well, I can add another "I was scammed" comment to the pile. Ordered in September, was told it would be shipped in a week...Halfway through March now, no pen, no refund. Haven't gotten a response in two months and both the bank and paypal are telling me there is nothing that can be done. Sucks.

3DNerd wrote at 3/6/2014 4:28:50 PM:

Same here. 10 pens ordered. paid with Paypal. No pens, no refund. We will try to press charges against this company if we don't get any refund now. It's incredible, that this company is still online!

I've been scamed too, it's impossible to reach them since I payed. Ordered in november, still no news of my order (I live in Switzerland and the factory is supposed to be at 60km from me but the phone always hangs up). DONT ORDER THIS PEN; ITS A SCAM!!!

Max wrote at 1/26/2014 3:47:00 AM:

SwissPen took my money too and the claims "we sent the pen" and "we'll refund your money" have both proved to be fraudulent.

Richard wrote at 1/6/2014 4:35:04 PM:

Again, they are a massive scam not received anything - ordered in November. A massive scam, me thinks.

Me too!! ordered and paid in September with October delivery.. and nothing! I've emailed several times and have been told each time that it was already sent or about to be sent... yet nothing! have asked for parcel tracking info... request goes unanswered! Avoid these guys!! either a scam, or exceptionally poor customer service - no communication at all! there was an article written in October about this being stocked in John Lewis stores in October, but looking through their site, there's nothing! Better off buying the 3Doodler, at least those guys communicate

Jules wrote at 12/20/2013 7:55:14 PM:

Ordered it in October and never received it. After looking into it - seems everyone is in the are boat. Contacted the company numerous times and they tell me next week- 2 months and it still has not even been shipped. Save your money - looks like no one has actually received it. Starting to think this company is a fraud. Anyone else never get theirs?

Bubba wrote at 12/20/2013 7:25:55 PM:

I ordered this in November and never saw any change on their order page. It was always "Processing". Their main page stated "10%" which implied they had 10% of their stock remaining. Given their level of communication and customer service, I'd say the 10% is more likely their customer satisfaction rate. I've asked them to cancel my order, no response. Typical. I'll do a chargeback if I must.

Ordered it in August, never got it.

Didn't the original 3Doodler have some sort of patent on the cooling system???

A difference with the chinese version ? http://www.3ders.org/articles/20130808-3dyaya-3doodler-chinese-clone-started-shipping.html

superace wrote at 8/22/2013 10:54:58 AM:

SwissPen looks exactly like the Chinese made pen, with the holes around the nozzle, the 2 buttons and the switch to set the speed. I have already the Chinese version in my hand so I do know what it looks like.
