A while back we posted a home made high resolution DLP 3D printer by Junior Veloso. At the same time, guys from MiiCraft are also developing an affordable Stereolithography 3D printer. MiiCraft has a similar design to that of Junior Veloso's DLP Printer but it uses a "pico" projector WVGA 854 x 480 instead. This allows them to get 450ppi in resolutions on their models which is pretty impressive. The build area based on 450ppi is approx 43mm x 27mm. Currently the build speed is about 1.5cm ~ 2cm per hour. So far only blue & transparent resin are available but MiiCraft is working with partners developing different resin.

MiiCraft is busy with making an evaluation kit with all the hardware (including pico projector) and open source software. It will be available on the market around June of this year and the price tag is around USD 2,000 per unit.
